Sarah & Mark's Journey to Financial Freedom

From Financial Fog to Future Clarity

Profile

Expats in Dubai, senior executives, early 50s, £400k+ income, two children

Challenge

Difficulty budgeting and debt management. No financial plan in place.

The Situation

This couple were like many high-earning expats, busy, successful, and great providers for their family. But when we first spoke, their financial lives were disorganised. Multiple pensions from the UK. Unclear investment accounts. No real understanding of whether they could afford to retire, or when.

They'd spoken to advisers before, but always walked away with product pitches and pressure. They were tired of being "sold to." What they really wanted was clarity.

What We Did

We built a full financial plan from the ground up. Starting with their goals, retire at 60, travel, help their kids with property, and eventually relocate back to the UK. We mapped out everything through detailed cashflow modelling.

We consolidated their investments, reduced unnecessary costs, and set up a globally diversified portfolio aligned to their goals. We also reviewed their life cover, which was both overpriced and underpowered, and replaced it with a structure that actually protected their family properly.

The Outcome

  • Clear retirement plan with monthly targets and a realistic timeline
  • £200k+ savings optimised into efficient investments
  • Updated life cover to properly protect their income and legacy
  • Wills drafted and estate planning aligned to UK/UAE rules
  • Confidence that they can retire without downsizing their lifestyle

Next Chapter

We continue to meet every six months, adjusting the plan as needed. As retirement approaches, we'll handle their UK return strategy, cross-border pension access, and eventual legacy planning.

Creating Intergenerational Legacy

From Founder to Family Legacy

Profile

Tech entrepreneur, Dubai, mid-40s, £20–30M business value

Challenge

No separation between business and personal wealth, family exposed

The Situation

When we first met, this client was what many would call "successful." He had built a rapidly growing tech business and was earning exceptionally well. Life was good, on the surface. But beneath that success was a fragile foundation.

There was no financial plan. No separation between business wealth and personal wealth. Everything, his family's security, his children's future, even his sense of identity, was tied up in the business.

His wife didn't know the numbers. His kids had no idea what life might look like in five or ten years. And despite the income, there was no sense of "enough." There were no guardrails. No clarity. Just constant growth, constant reinvestment, and a quiet fear that if something happened to him or the business, everything could unravel.

Like many founders, he was so immersed in growing the company that he'd never stepped back to ask: "What is all of this actually for?"

What We Did

We started not with spreadsheets, but with values. What did he want for his family? His future? What legacy did he want to leave behind?

From there, we got practical. We arranged a full business valuation, which came in at £20–30 million. On paper, he was extremely wealthy. But he was also illiquid, uninsured, and completely exposed.

We explored multiple paths and ultimately advised a partial exit. We negotiated the sale of a 40% stake in the business to a boutique private equity firm for £10 million. This allowed him to:

  • Secure his family's future, immediately
  • Retain control of his company and leadership position
  • Partner with an investor to help scale the business to a £100M+ valuation
  • Remove pressure from needing a "perfect" full exit

Importantly, we also created his first ever personal financial plan. He now had a structure. A map. A sense of control.

The Outcome

  • His family is now financially secure, regardless of the business outcome
  • He has diversified personal wealth and proper protection in place
  • His company is on a clear growth path, with aligned investor support
  • He is working on his legacy, not just in his business
  • He has joined our Family Office for long-term legacy planning and intergenerational wealth structuring

Next Chapter

Today, he meets with us regularly, not just to review investments, but to shape his family's future and build his Legacy. We're helping him establish a family charter, build trust structures, educate his children around wealth, and make thoughtful decisions that reflect his values. What began as a conversation about financial planning has become a roadmap for generational impact.
